Health Promotion Lecture
On April 18th our MOT class had a lecture on Health Promotion in Occupational Therapy. During this lecture, I learned many things about healthcare in relation to occupational therapy. Something that I really enjoyed learning about during this lecture was about the interventions that aim to reduce threats to health. This includes primary, secondary, and tertiary interventions. Primary interventions are used to prevent diseases or injuries before they ever occur. Secondary interventions are used to reduce the impact of a disease or injury by detecting it early and preventing it fro, getting any worse. Finally, tertiary interventions are used to help maintain an ongoing illness that has lasting effects and is used to improve a person's quality of life. I really enjoyed talking about these different interventions and learning about how they are implemented in the healthcare system.
